Browse courses and register on PAFA's online catalogue. All courses labeled "Pre-College" are designed for high school students.

Registration Deadline: One business day before class
Scholarship Application Deadline: One week before class/workshop

When registering, students are responsible for:

  • Downloading their course materials list from the online course description 
  • Viewing and agreeing to the terms of the Pre-College Policy Guide.

Students will receive an email confirmation upon registering and an email reminder with the materials list, class information, and consent form shortly before the course start date.

International students are welcome to participate! However, we cannot award college credit and registration process is different to support international payment systems. Please reach out to precollege@laineapine.com to register as an international student.

Scholarships

PAFA offers a limited number of full- and partial- scholarships open to all high school students based primarily on need. 

 A scholarship application must be completed and awarded before registering for the course. Scholarships cannot be applied after registration. 

Scholarship applications are due within one week of the class start day that application is for. 

Studio Arts Scholarship Application Requirements

  • Application form on SlideRoom. 
  • Personal statement: 1–2 paragraphs explaining why you would like to attend Studio Arts course at PAFA
  • Portfolio of 5 images.  Portfolios should consist of your strongest artwork and should include drawings or paintings from direct observation (as opposed to referencing photographs). Make sure the photos of your artwork are well-lit, not blurry, and show only the artwork (you may need to crop). A smartphone camera is typically sufficient.

SlideRoom Instructions

  • Log in to SlideRoom using the link below. 
  • "Login" to an already existing account, or “Sign Up” to make a SlideRoom account.  (SlideRoom is a free service.)
  • If creating a new account, open the email that was automatically sent to you and click on the activation link.  Log in to your new account.
  • Select Pre-College One-Week Intensive Scholarship Application- 2023 from the Directory. 
  • Complete the application form sections online and add your personal statement and digital portfolio images.  
  • Once all sections are completed, review and submit your application.  Once submitted, it cannot be altered.  Logout when finished.  Be sure to make note of your SlideRoom login information:  In addition to logging in to complete an application in progress, you can use this account for future SlideRoom applications at PAFA and other participating institutions.  

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Withdrawals must be made in writing via email (precollege@pafa.org预科项目办公室). An administrative fee of $25 per dropped course and $15 per dropped workshop will be assessed, in addition to the tuition refund adjustments indicated in the following schedule*:

REFUND SCHEDULE:

Ten-Week Courses (or longer than 10 weeks)

  • Prior to one week before the 1st class:  100%
  • After the above, prior to the 2nd class:  75%
  • After the above, prior to the 3rd class:  50%
  • After the above:  No refunds

Condensed/Short Courses (one to nine weeks)

  • Prior to one week before the 1st class:  100%
  • After the above, prior to the 2nd class:  50%
  • After the above:  No refunds

Workshops (One-, Two-, and Three-Day Classes)

  • Prior to one week before the 1st day:  100%
  • After the above, prior to the 1st day:  50%
  • After the above:  No Refunds

*Your health, and that of the entire PAFA community, is our priority:  If COVID-19 health risk concerns or illness prevent, or make inadvisable, attendance or completion of course work, please do not hesitate to contact us to cancel your class, and we will accommodate you as best we can.

College Credit and Transcript

PAFA is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).  PAFA is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD). 

 

UNDERGRADUATE CREDIT

Courses meeting content and contact hour requirements are available for undergraduate credits.  If taken for credit, students must do coursework and will receive a course grade based on what they complete. The grade earned will appear with appropriate credit on an official PAFA transcript. Student transcripts can be requested from the registrar.
